M25 remains partially closed after a lorry ‘tyre blowout’ incident
Essex Police have now issued an update after the M25 was fully closed today due to a lorry crash. It was reported a lorry[1] had left the road between junctions 28 and 27 (anticlockwise) following a tyre blowout shortly before 11am. The lorry collided with the reservation and a power cable was damaged.
The situation has now been made safe by the power network. A second lorry has been damaged resulting in a damaged windscreen and no one was reported to be seriously injured in this collision.
The road was closed in both directions while emergency services including Essex County Fire and Rescue and Highways England responded. Track A - clockwise - is now reopened. Lane closures remain on track B - anticlockwise - but lanes three and four are now opened.
A spokesperson for Essex Police said: "We'd like to thank all our partners who have helped throughout the incident and the public for their patience and understanding.
"The road closure will remain in place for several hours yet and will be managed by Highways England."
