M62 LIVE as drivers stuck in two HOUR delays after all traffic stopped

There are long two hour delays on a stretch of the M62 this morning amid a HGV fire. Traffic was initially fully stopped on the eastbound stretch of the motorway between junction 18 for Simister Island and junction 19 for Heywood as emergency services responded. Two lanes are now closed off on the scene, with long queues up to the incident.

"Heavy delays exceeding 2 hours above profiled journey time is building in the area. If this impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time. Plan ahead, you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey."

Congestion is back to junction 15 on the M60, according to traffic alert service Inrix.
