Man dies following A500 horror smash

Staffordshire Police have confirmed that a man has sadly died this morning following a serious collision on the A500. A grey Jaguar and a white MAN lorry were involved in the 4.35am crash.

The road was closed in both directions following the accident, with the A500 northbound reopening at around 9am. The A500 southbound remains shut while officers carry out investigation work at the scene.

A force spokesperson said: "We are appealing for witnesses after a fatal collision in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

We were called at 4.35am this morning (Saturday 14 February) to reports of a serious collision involving a grey Jaguar and a white MAN lorry on the A500 near to junction 16.

"The driver of the car, a man, sadly died at the scene. His family are being supported by specialist officers.

"We are keen to speak to anyone who was travelling in the area with any information or dashcam footage which could help collision investigators. Call us on 101, quoting incident 124 of 14 February, or message us using Live Chat on our website.
