Police chase van from Chelmsford to Wickford, man arrested

Officers were called to reports of a collision involving two cars and a van on Sandford Road in Chelmsford just before 9.30am on Saturday. The crash caused significant congestion in the area. Police say the driver of the van left the scene of the collision.
Officers tracked the van to the Army and Navy roundabout and a police pursuit was authorised. The van was then seen swerving across multiple lanes of traffic before stopping after colliding with two police cars, just past the Rayleigh Spur Roundabout in Wickford on the A130 shortly before 10am. A man in his 30s from Basildon was arrested[1] at the scene on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop at the scene of a collision and criminal damage.
He has been released on bail and police are continuing with their inquiries. Essex Police[2] are appealing for anyone who witnessed either incident to get in touch.
