A woman has died and two people have been arrested following a crash. The 24-year-old woman died when a white Ford Transit van overturned on the A534 near Farndon on the Wales[1]-England border.
Following the crash, two men were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
The van was travelling towards North Wales[2] at the time, said Cheshire Police.
Officers were called to the scene at 5.50am on Saturday, February 14, following reports of a collision on the A534 at Barton, a small village eight miles east of Wrexham[3].
Three crews from Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service also attended, with a spokesperson saying the van had "left the highway and overturned onto a field".
Firefighters used extrication equipment to access the vehicle and release the female passenger.
She was treated by paramedics but was sadly pronounced dead at the scene, reports North Wales Live.[4]
The driver, a 27-year-old man, and a second passenger, a 21-year-old man, were both taken to hospital for precautionary checks. They were subsequently arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. North Wales Police had urged drivers to avoid the area.
Sgt Amy Hollis of Cheshire's Roads and Crime Unit, said inquiries were underway to establish exactly what happened
She said: "We are currently investigating the full circumstances of this sad incident. Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the woman who has sadly died.
"As part of our enquiries, we would like to hear from any witnesses who have not already spoken to police.
"The same goes for anyone with any relevant dashcam or CCTV footage of what happened."
