Yob throws objects off M42 bridge smashing into vehicle

A hunt to find a yob who was lobbing objects off a bridge over the M42 motorway aiming at cars has been launched by police

Police are hunting a yob who smashed a windscreen by throwing objects from a bridge over a major Midland motorway.

It happened on the M42[1] at junction 2, the turn off for Hopwood Services and south Birmingham[2], near Alvechurch on Tuesday, February 17.

A person was seen throwing objects from an overhead bridge at cars at around 1.55pm.

One hit a vehicle, smashing its windscreen.

West Mercia Police[4] appealed for witnesses to the incident or anyone with any information to come forward.

The force said: "Did you see someone throwing objects at vehicles on the M42 last week?

At around 1.55pm on Tuesday, February 17 a person was seen throwing objects at cars from the bridge over the M42 at junction 2 (Hopwood services).

"One vehicle was struck by an object, which smashed the windscreen and nearly caused a serious collision."

While PC Stuart Head, who is investigating the incident, added: "Throwing things at moving vehicles is incredibly dangerous and can endanger lives.

"We'd like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen, or have dashcam footage, showing a person on the bridge at junction 2."
