Bexleyheath man admits deaths of two women on hard shoulder

Dr Habiba Hajallie and Lisa Webber died on the M20 in Kent in October 2022, after being struck while on the hard shoulder. Bilal Tahir, 29, of Bexleyheath in south-east London, pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey to two counts of causing death by dangerous driving and one count of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He entered[1] the pleas during his appearance in court on Monday, March 23, as reported by our sister title London Now.
The crash took place around 8.20am on Monday, October 17, 2022, on the coastbound carriageway between junctions one and two. Both women were pronounced dead at the scene. A third[2] man, Mark Heap, was injured in the collision.
One had stopped to help the other when the incident happened. Kent Police said the crash involved four vehicles: a grey Infiniti Q30 Sport, a black BMW X5, a black VW Golf and a white Iveco Daily van. The case was heard at the Old Bailey, where judge Anthony Leonard KC disqualified Tahir from driving.
He was released on conditional bail ahead of his sentencing, which is scheduled for Monday, May 18.
