Car linked to person’s death on M6 cordoned off 80 miles away

A car being examined by police is said to be linked to the death of a person who was hit by "multiple vehicles" 80 miles away. Cheshire Police has launched an investigation into the death of a person in the early hours of Saturday, March 7, when they were hit by numerous vehicles between junctions 21 and 21A on the northbound carriageway of the busy motorway.
Officers arrived at the scene near Warrington[2] at around 2.50am to find a person had been hit by several vehicles and was dead at the scene[3]. Cheshire Police[4] is now appealing for information. Accident investigation work is continuing on the northbound carriage of the M6 today.
Traffic monitor Inrix said the incident involved two lorries and four cars.
At the time of writing, the closure remains in place.
Inrix said: "M6 Northbound closed, slow traffic due to accident investigation work from J21 A57 Manchester Road (Woolston) to J21A M62 (Croft Interchange).

"Ongoing since 3am following a serious accident involving two lorries and four cars."
A second closure was also in place this morning between junctions 28 and 30 on the M6 in Lancashire, with the closure connected to the same deadly crash, the Manchester Evening News reports[5].
This closure has now lifted.
Tebay services in Cumbria, which is 80 miles away from the scene of the fatality, have also been cordoned off "for the forensic examination of a vehicle that is believed to have been involved".
In a statement, a Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "At around 2.50am today, Saturday 7 March, police were called to reports of a serious collision on the M6 between junctions 21 and 21A.
"Officers in attendance at the scene found that a pedestrian had been struck by several vehicles.
"Sadly, the pedestrian was found dead at the scene.

"A cordon is also in place at Tebay services in Cumbria to allow for the forensic examination of a vehicle that is believed to have been involved.
