‘Devoted’ Oldham dad-of-six, 34, dies on M6 in horror motorway crash

The family of a 'devoted' dad-of-six who died in a crash on the M6 motorway have paid a heartfelt tribute to him.
Emergency crews were called to the crash on the motorway between junctions 16 and 17 in Cheshire on the evening of Tuesday, March 3. Police said the crash was between a white Renault van and a crane truck.
Tragically, the passenger of the van, who has now been named as Daniel Hill, died on the scene. Mr Hill, from Oldham[1], leaves behind six children 'who were the centre of his world'.

The 34-year-old's family described him as being a 'well-liked and memorable character' as they paid tribute to him. In full, their tribute said: "Danny was a hardworking family man whose partner and six children were the centre of his world, and everything he did was for them.
"An avid rugby and football supporter, he proudly played rugby for his town team and had a great love of music. Danny was known for his sense of humour and his ability to make people laugh, often entertaining friends and family with his impressions of comedians like Lee Evans.

"He was a well-liked and memorable character -- a devoted partner and father, and a beloved son and brother.
His loss has left his family heartbroken, and he will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him."
Following the crash, a stretch of the M6 motorway was closed off for hours[5] while investigations were carried out.
Cheshire Police are continuing to appeal for information.

Previously, Inspector Andrew Dennison said: "As part of our investigation into the circumstances of this tragic incident, we would like to appeal to anyone who witnessed what happened and has not already spoken to police to get in touch with us.
"The same goes for anyone who has any CCTV or dashcam footage.
Our thoughts remain with the man's family and friends at this sad time."
