A driver has tragically died after a Mercedes 'left the road and struck a tree'.
Emergency services rushed to the A591 south of Kendal[1] on Thursday afternoon (March 12).
Police closed the road for several hours between Brettagh Holt and Prizet and motorists were asked to avoid the area.
An appeal has now been launched for witnesses and anyone who saw the Mercedes in the moments leading up to the crash to come forward.
In a statement, Cumbria[2] Police said: "The driver of a Mercedes car involved in a single vehicle road traffic collision on the A591 south of Kendal earlier this afternoon (March 12) has died.
"The collision is believed to have occurred when the car left the road and struck a tree.
"Emergency services remain at the scene and the road remains closed northbound between Brettagh Holt and Prizet.
