Family pays tribute to ‘kind’ mum and ‘gentle’ daughter killed in A10 crash

The family of a mother and daughter who died in a crash[1] on the A10 has paid tribute to them. Josefina Gatdula, 71, and daughter Jonifel Mae Gatdula, 25, both of Friars Way, Littleport, died in a crash on the A10 between Littleport and Ely[2] on February 12 at around 6.40pm.

The crash involved the pair's Audi and a HGV fuel tanker. The HGV left the road after the crash and came to rest in a nearby field.

The Audi finished moving 100m further up the road.

The HGV driver, a 40-year-old man from Basildon in Essex, was left uninjured.

He was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has been released on bail until May 10 pending further enquiries.

Josefina's husband and Jonifel's dad Felix has paid tribute to them. He said: "On February 12 I lost my wife, Josefina, and our daughter, Jonifel Mae - two people who were my whole world.

Josefina was the heart of our home, full of strength, kindness, and unwavering love.

"Jonifel Mae was our miracle, a bright and gentle soul who carried her mother's warmth. Their absence has left a void that can never be filled, but the love they gave will stay with me forever.

"I am deeply grateful to our family, friends, and community for the support and compassion you have shown during this unimaginable time. My thanks also go to the first responders who cared for them with such kindness.

"As we lay them to rest, I ask for privacy while we grieve.

Josefina and Jonifel Mae will forever live in my heart. Until we meet again. I love you both."

Cambridgeshire[3] Police continue to investigate the crash and are appealing for information.

Anyone with information or dashcam footage should call police on 101 or report it online and quote Operation Eastcote or incident 455 of February 12.
