Greater Manchester man killed in M6 crash in Cheshire as police appeal for witnesses

A Greater Manchester man has died following a crash on the M6 motorway in Cheshire on Tuesday night.
Cheshire Police said they were called to reports of a serious collision on the northbound carriageway between junctions 16 (Crewe) and 17 (Sandbach/Congleton) at 7.47pm on Tuesday 3 March.
The crash involved a white Renault van and a crane truck. A passenger in the van, a 34-year-old man from the Manchester area, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the van, a 30-year-old man, also from the Manchester area, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Royal Stoke Hospital for treatment.
The northbound carriageway remained shut into the early hours of this morning[4] as investigation and recovery work continued at the scene.
Police are now appealing for any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to get in touch with them, and for anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage of the collision.
Inspector Andrew Dennison said: "As part of our investigation into the circumstances of this tragic incident, we would like to appeal to anyone who witnessed what happened and has not already spoken to police to get in touch with us.
