Heartbroken family tribute to dad-of-six who died in M6 crane crash

THE 'heartbroken' family of a dad-of-six who died in a crash involving a crane on the M6 has paid tribute to him.
Daniel Hill sadly died aged just 34 on Tuesday, March 3, in a road traffic collision on the motorway heading northbound in Cheshire.
At around 7.47pm, emergency services were called to reports of a serious crash involving a white Renault van and a crane truck between junctions 16 for Crewe and 17 for Sandbach. Advertisement Advertisement

A passenger in the van, a 34-year-old man from Oldham, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the van, a 30-year-old man from the Manchester area, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Royal Stoke Hospital for treatment.

The motorway was closed on the southbound carriageway for several hours while the incident was ongoing.
Now, Daniel's family has issued a tribute to him in which they said: "Danny was a hardworking family man.
"His partner and six children were the centre of his world, and everything he did was for them. Advertisement

"An avid rugby and football supporter, he proudly played rugby for his town team and had a great love of music.

"Danny was known for his sense of humour and his ability to make people laugh, often entertaining friends and family with his impressions of comedians like Lee Evans.
"He was a well-liked and memorable character -- a devoted partner and father, and a beloved son and brother.
"His loss has left his family heartbroken, and he will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him."
Cheshire Police previously appealed for any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to get in touch, as well as anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage which captured what happened.

Inspector Andrew Dennison said: "As part of our investigation into the circumstances of this tragic incident, we would like to appeal to anyone who witnessed what happened and has not already spoken to the police to get in touch with us.
"The same goes for anyone who has any CCTV or dashcam footage.
"Our thoughts remain with Daniel's family and friends at this sad time."
