Inquest into death of dad-of-six in crash with crane on motorway

AN inquest is now open into the death of a dad-of-six in a crash with a crane truck in Cheshire.
Daniel Hill died on the evening of Tuesday, March 3, on the northbound carriageway of the M6.
Cheshire Coroner's Court has heard how the dad-of-six was in a crash with a crane truck which was broken-down between the junction for Crewe and Stoke-on-Trent and the junction for Congleton and Sandbach.
The 34-year-old from Oldham, Greater Manchester, was the front seat passenger in a white van which was driven by another man, also from the area of Greater Manchester, who was in hospital with serious injuries. Advertisement Advertisement

An inquest is now open into the death following an initial hearing at the coroner's court this week.
Victoria Davies, the area coroner, adjourned for a further, final hearing on Tuesday, December 8.

The police coroner's officer said: "The reason for the inquest is an unnatural cause of death.
"It is requested that the inquest be opened and adjourned for further work to be completed."
Ms Davies said: "I am going to formally open and adjourn for further work to be completed."
An investigation into the incident is ongoing amid an appeal for eyewitnesses or anyone else with information including dashcam footage. Advertisement

Mr Hill's family said he was a 'beloved son and brother' and a 'devoted partner and father' in a touching tribute through Cheshire Police.
Mr Hill's family said: "Danny was a hardworking family man whose partner and six children were the centre of his world, and everything he did was for them.
"An avid rugby and football supporter, he proudly played rugby for his town team and had a great love of music.
"Danny was known for his sense of humour and his ability to make people laugh, often entertaining friends and family with his impressions of comedians like Lee Evans.

"He was a well-liked and memorable character - a devoted partner and father, and a beloved son and brother.
"His loss has left his family heartbroken, and he will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him."
Inspector Andrew Dennison said: "Our thoughts remain with [Mr Hill's] family and friends at this sad time."
