Lorry crash on M56 at Helsby causes heavy traffic and delays

The collision happened at junction 14 for Helsby where a wagon had hit the safety barrier and come off the carriageway. Cheshire Police say there have been no reports of any serious injuries. The westbound slip road coming off the motorway heading towards Helsby along the A5117 has been closed.

Meanwhile the eastbound around that junction is very busy as diverted traffic is heading back on that side to exit at Junction 14. A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: "A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: "At 2.34am on Tuesday, March 17, police were called to reports of a collision on the A5117 at junction 14 of the M56 in Hapsford. "Officers attended and found that a HGV had collided with a safety barrier and driven into a ditch.

"There are no reports of any serious injuries, but the junction is closed while recovery work is undertaken."
