A lorry driver has been taken to hospital after smashing into the central reservation on the M58 motorway.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the incident near Maghull at around 8.55am on Monday (March 16).

Police said a lorry crashed into the central reservation on the eastbound carriageway near Switch Island.

The motorway was partially blocked until J1 Maghull Lane (Kirkby) as officers and paramedics responded.

No injuries have been reported following the crash, however the driver of the HGV was taken to hospital as a precaution, the force said.
