M25 traffic LIVE as motorway closed in Essex after crash involving three lorries

A major motorway has closed after three lorries crashed in a horror incident. The M25[1] in Essex[2] is closed clockwise between junction 27 (M11) and junction 28 (Brentwood) due to the crash in the early hours of Wednesday. All emergency services[3] will be attending the scene.

National Highways warns that due to the nature of the incident, the road may be closed for some time.

As the M25 remain closed, there is a diversion route in place.

Road users are advised to follow the hollow triangle diversion symbol on road signs:

  • From M25 Junction 27 take direct exit slip onto M11 towards London.
  • At M11 Junction 4 bear left onto A406(S) North Circular Road.
  • At A406/A12 'Redbridge Interchange' bear left onto A12 and then take 2nd exit at roundabout onto A12 towards Chelmsford.
  • Follow A12 towards Chelmsford, at A12/A127 'Gallows Corner' take the 2nd exit continuing on the A12 for approximately 2 miles to the 'Brook Street' roundabout.
  • Take the 3rd exit to rejoin the M25 Junction 28 anticlockwise directional.

National Highways provide update as queues build

In a latest update National Highways has said that the event isn't expected to clear until around 9am. The M25 is shut due to a collision involving three lorries.

At 6am, as the M25 remains closed between junction 27 and 28 in Essex long queues are forming on the motorway. A diversion is in place and earlier traffic has been released.

According to National Highways due to the serious nature of the incident and estimated time for recovery the road is expected to remain closed for "some time".

A spokesperson said: "All emergency services will be attending the scene.

Due to the nature of the incident the road may be closed for some time."
