Major queues on M25 after three-lorry serious crash in early hours of morning

Huge queues are forming on a major Essex motorway following an earlier serious collision.

Three lorries crashed [1]in the early hours on Wednesday, March 18 with emergency services closing the busy road as long tailbacks were reported.

The incident has taken place on the M25 [2] in Essex between junction 27 and junction 28 (Brentwood [3]) clockwise.

According to National Highway the crash is a 'serious' incident and the motorway is expected to be closed for "some time".

A spokesperson for National Highways said: "The M25 in Essex is closed clockwise between J27 (for the M11) and J28 (for the A12, near Brentwood) due to a collision involving 3 HGVs.

"All emergency services including Essex Police are in attendance.

"National Highways Traffic Officers are also on scene assisting with traffic management."

Traffic caught within the closure was released however there is a further build up of motors.

A diversion route is in place as the road remains shut.
