A 21-year-old man was showing off his new car to a friend when things went horribly wrong.

On Feb.

28, the man was driving around a tight bend on a remote country road near Edmundbyers, England, as his friend stood on the grass taking pictures of him, according to a press release[1] and bodycam footage[2] shared by the Durham Constabulary. He lost control of the car, crossed into the opposing lane and struck his friend, who fell to the ground with the impact.

As seen in the bodycam footage, officers arrived at the scene and began questioning the 21-year-old man before inspecting the crashed car, which had both front airbags deployed.

Officers then went to speak to the friend, who was receiving treatment in the back of an ambulance.

The Constabulary said in the release that the friend had a very close call.

"Thanks to luck and quick reactions from the cameraman, what could easily have been a fatal collision was avoided by mere inches," they wrote. "He sustained minor injuries in the resulting fall, and the driver's car was heavily damaged from the impact with the wall."
