Man sentenced for drink driving after HGV A303 crash
Ion Triboi, a 51-year-old man of no fixed abode, was charged with drink driving and remanded into custody following a crash on the A303 at Mere. This charges related to a road traffic collision in which a heavy goods vehicle overturned on the A303 westbound carriageway at around 7.15am on Saturday, February 21.
Suggested reading: A National Highways spokesperson noted at the time that the lorry and a substantial section of the nearside barrier were damaged as a result of the collision. They also said there was a large spillage of diesel and mud spread across the carriageway.
Triboi appeared before Swindon Magistrates' Court on February 23 to face the charge. During the hearing, he pleaded guilty to driving an HGV while over the alcohol limit following an incident on the A303 at Mere on February 21. Court documents state Triboi had 60 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath.
He was disqualified from driving for 17 months and was fined GBP1,292.
