Penalty for drivers caught filming Bury St Edmunds collision

On Friday, police were called to a collision involving a lorry on the A14 at Rougham at around 7.10am. It was reported that the HGV was travelling westbound and had collided with the central reservation and gone in the eastbound carriageway.[1] The driver of the HGV, Lukasz Wojciechowski, of Clarendon Way, Colchester[2], was convicted of drink-driving this weekend.
He was disqualified from driving after appearing[3] before Ipswich Crown Court on Saturday. Suffolk police has now warned that a number of drivers passing the collision site[4] on Friday were witnessed filming the incident. Their vehicle details were taken down and they can expect to receive fixed penalty notices in the post, the force said.
PC Terry Harvey, of the Commercial Vehicle Unit, said: "I would like to take this opportunity to warn motorists about filming or photographing collision scenes when driving past.
"This is also an offence and can lead to further collisions and those whose details we recorded can also expect to receive enforcement action."
