Police issue update as person dies on M6 after being ‘hit by several vehicles’

Police have confirmed that the death of a person on the M6 motorway on Saturday (March 7) is not being treated as suspicious.
The person, a pedestrian, was 'struck by several vehicles' between junctions 21 and 21A on the motorway[1] near Warrington at around 2.50am. Emergency services rushed to the scene but sadly, the person was found dead.
In an update a Cheshire Police spokesperson has confirmed that the person's death is not being treated as suspicious. A file will be passed to the coroner.

No further details on the pedestrian have been released at this stage. Two stretches of the M6 motorway in Cheshire and Lancashire were shut for hours following the fatal incident.
Cheshire Police shut the motorway near Warrington and near Bamber Bridge, confirming both were linked to the tragic incident.
Tebay services in Cumbria were also cordoned off 'for the forensic examination of a vehicle that is believed to have been involved'. Advertisement Advertisement

In a statement, a Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "At around 2.50am on Saturday 7 March, police were called to reports of a serious collision on the M6 between junctions 21 and 21A. On attendance, officers found that a pedestrian had been struck by several vehicles.
"Sadly, the pedestrian was found dead at the scene.
Their death is not being treated as suspicious, and a case file will be prepared for the coroner."
