Police say death of person on M6 not suspicious

The death of a pedestrian who was tragically killed on the M6 near Warrington[1] is not being treated as suspicious, Cheshire Police have confirmed. Officers were called to the northbound carriageway between junction 21 (for the M56) and junction 21A (for the M62) at 2.50am on Saturday, March 7.
Upon arrival, police found the body of a person who had been struck by several vehicles. The force ordered a full shutdown of the motorway, causing massive disruption.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "At around 2.50am on Saturday, March 7, police were called to reports of a serious collision on the M6 between junctions 21 and 21A.
"On attendance, officers found that a pedestrian had been struck by several vehicles. Sadly, the pedestrian was found dead at the scene.
"Their death is not being treated as suspicious, and a case file will be prepared for the coroner."
Inrix Traffic Management reported that four cars and two HGVs were involved in the collision.

The incident led to an extensive closure of the M6 northbound, with sections closed by Cheshire, Lancashire, and Cumbria Police.
The motorway was shut near the scene for around 20 hours, eventually reopening between 10pm and 11pm.
The disruption stretched north, with closures as far as Leyland and an HGV being impounded at Tebay Services for forensic analysis.
