Subaru driver killed in crash on A420 in Oxfordshire

The A420 near Southmoor and Buckland, between Oxford and Swindon was closed for much of Monday, March 16 while investigation work was carried out. Emergency services were called to the serious crash, involving a lorry and a brown Subaru, at 9.33am. Despite the efforts of emergency services, the driver in his 60s was confirmed dead at the scene.

A spokeswoman for Thames Valley Police said: "We were called yesterday (16/3) at 9.33am to a report of a serious collision involving a lorry and a brown Subaru on the A420. "The driver of the Subaru, a man in his 60s, sadly died at the scene. His family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

No arrests have been made." Oxfordshire fire and rescue service was also called to the crash, with a spokesman saying on Monday morning that the road would be closed at the Pusey turning "until further notice" and advised drivers to "please avoid the area". Kingston and Stanford councillor Lee Evans added: "I have just been told there has been an accident on the A420.

"The road is closed in both directions between Kingston Bagpuize and Buckland. "Please find alternative routes until the road re-opens. Emergency services are on the scene."

The road was reopened at about 5pm.
