Two airlifted to hospital after motorway crash between car and van

Two people have been airlifted to hospital after a crash[1] between a car and a van on the M876 near Bonnybridge. Emergency services were called to the junction 1 slip road at around 3.15pm on Saturday, March 14 following the collision.
A black Vauxhall Corsa and a blue VW Crafter van were involved in a collision on the slip road. Both drivers were airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital[2] in Glasgow for treatment and the road closed for around seven hours as investigations into the crash were carried out.

Medical staff have described the driver of the Corsa, a 32-year-old woman, as being in a "serious" condition. The driver of the van, a 31-year-old man is said to be in "stable" condition.
The passenger of the van was not injured.
Police[3] are now appealing for anyone who may have seen the crash to come forward as they try to establish the full circumstances.
Constable Calum Gracie, Road Policing Unit, Stirling[4], said: "We are appealing to any motorists on the M876 around 3.15pm who saw the crash or who may have any information that will assist our enquiries to come forward." Advertisement

A spokesperson for Police Scotland[5] said: "Police are appealing for witnesses to a two-vehicle crash on the M876, Stirling on Saturday, March 14.
"Around 3.15pm, police were called to the slip-road at J1, where a black Vauxhall[6] Corsa and a blue VW Crafter van were involved in a collision.
"The 32-year-old female driver of the Corsa was taken by air ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow[7] where medical staff describe her condition as serious.
"The 31-year-old male driver of the van was also airlifted to hospital[8].
According to medical staff, he is in a stable condition.

"Details can be passed to officers via 101. Please quote incident number 1801 of Saturday, March 14 when calling.
"The road was re-opened around 10pm."
