Woman in her 90s dies after crash in Morecambe

Police were called to Marine Road East, Morecambe, at the junction with Princes Crescent, at around 4.30pm on Friday (March 27). They were told a silver Volkswagen Polo had left the road and crashed with a large planter on the central reservation before hitting a lamppost. The woman was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and died in the early hours of Saturday morning (March 28).

Her family are being supported by specially trained officers. Detective Sergeant Stuart Hart, of Lancashire Police's roads policing team, said: "A woman has very sadly died following this collision and our thoughts remain with her and her loved ones at this time. "We are in the early stages of our investigation and I am appealing directly to you, the public, for your assistance.
