A420 crash sparks air ambulance response near Chippenham

Emergency crews raced to the A420 near Chippenham, at the junction with Yatton Road, following a crash between a car and a van on the route at around noon on Sunday, April 26. Police closed the road while the ambulance service, including an air ambulance, a double-crewed land ambulance, and an operations officer, worked at the scene. A woman in her 50s, who was driving the car, was taken to the Royal United Hospital in Bath by land ambulance.
Her injuries are not thought to be life changing, police have confirmed. Officers reopened the road after the vehicles involved had been recovered. A spokesperson for the force said: "At around noon we responded to a collision between a car and a van on the A420 at the junction with Yatton Road. "The driver of the car, a woman in her 50s, suffered injuries which aren't thought to be life changing and was taken to hospital for treatment.
"No arrests were made.
"The road was closed to allow for recovery of the vehicles and has now reopened."
