Boyle Way East Peckham pony and trap crash- Tributes to family

Rita Connors was left critically injured after a crash on the A228 Boyle Way in East Peckham on April 1. Her husband Francie Connors and their young daughter Ka both died in the crash. Rita died from her injuries on April 9.

Friends, family and loved ones have since taken to social media to pay tribute to the family. Michelle Connors wrote: "It's like a sad film never see anything like it rest in peace Rita. "You are loved so much god help.

You with Francie and your baby girl." "Such a beautiful family, RIP to those who died and affected by this tragedy," one wrote. Another post said: "I'll never forget you Rita.

You were my whole childhood." Celebrity Big Brother winner Paddy Doherty, who revealed the victims were his relatives, also paid tribute. In a video, he said: "Went for a drive, him and his wife and his baby, him and his baby's dead.

So sad, God bless." He also described the devastating incident as a "travesty", adding: "The girl was three years of age, a little princess." The pony and trap was travelling southbound on the A228 when it was struck by a DAF tipper truck driving in the same direction.

The driver of the lorry, a 29-year-old man from Kent, was arrested on suspicion of causing death and serious injury by dangerous driving and driving whilst unfit. He was taken into custody and has since been released on bail pending further enquiries. A spokesperson for Kent Police said: An investigation into the circumstances is underway and officers are continuing to urge any witnesses or anyone who saw the truck or pony and trap prior to the collision, to contact the appeal line.
