Five-car crash closes Ainsdale road as man arrested

A man has been arrested after a crash in Ainsdale. Emergency services were called to Station Road at around 11.20am on Monday, April 13, following reports of a crash involving five cars.
There were no reports of any injuries, police said. A 56-year-old man from Southport[1] was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drink driving.
He remains in police custody.
Pictures seen by the ECHO[2] show a police van and a fire engine at the scene.
Diversions were put in place as a result of the incident. Arriva North West posted on X: "There's been a little incident in Ainsdale Village, so we're taking a small detour around the area. Thanks so much for your understanding!"
Traffic monitoring site Inrix said: "Liverpool Road Westbound partially blocked, slow traffic due to accident between A565 Liverpool Avenue and Station Road."
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We received a report of a collision involving five vehicles on Station Road, in Ainsdale, at around 11.20am today (Monday April 13).
"There were no reported injuries.
"A 56-year-old man from Southport was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drink driving.
He remains in police custody."
