Four people were injured in a multi-vehicle crash that closed the A55[1] this morning.

The incident happened in the eastbound lanes of the route between the junction for Broughton[2] and the Posthouse roundabout.

Police closed the road eastbound shortly before 9am with the fire and ambulance services also responding to the incident.

There were three vehicles involved in the crash.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: "At 8.40am on Thursday 16 April, police were called to a collision on the eastbound carriageway of the A55 between Broughton and the Posthouse roundabout.

"Officers attended and found there had been a collision between three vehicles, a Renault van, a Seat Ateca and a BMW.

"There were no reports of any serious injuries as a result of the collision, although four people were treated for minor injuries."

One fire engine from Chester attended the scene.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Fire Service said: "Firefighters were called to a road traffic collision involving two cars and one van in Chester.

All persons involved had safely gotten out of the vehicles before firefighters' arrival.

"There were no signs of fire, and firefighters made the vehicles safe."
