Girl and man in 30s killed after pony and trap hit by tipper truck in Kent

A man and a girl travelling in a pony and trap have died after a crash involving a tipper truck in Kent.
A white DAF tipper truck was travelling on the A228 Boyle Way in East Peckham when it crashed with a pony and trap at around 6.25pm yesterday (April 1).
The man, in his 30s, who was riding in the trap was pronounced dead at the scene.
A woman and the young girl, who were also in the trap, were taken to hospital. Advertisement Advertisement

The girl later died from her injuries, while the woman remains in a critical condition.
The pony also died at the scene.
The driver of the lorry, a 29-year-old man from Kent, was arrested in connection with the incident and taken into custody.
Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash and are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage.
