Investigation ongoing three months after fatal Chadbury crash

A woman in her 70s died following a crash on the A44 Worcester Road in Chadbury on Monday, December 22. A 54-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving the same day. She was released under investigation.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police has confirmed that enquiries around the fatal crash remain ongoing. West Midlands Ambulance service confirmed the death after an ambulance, paramedic officer and a critical care car from Midlands Air Ambulance responded to the scene after receiving a call from West Mercia Police at 7.41am on the day of the crash. A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "Crews arrived to find police providing emergency treatment to a pedestrian, a woman.

"Ambulance staff quickly took over to administer advanced life support. "Sadly, despite the best efforts of everyone on scene, nothing could be done to save the woman, and she was confirmed dead a short time later." A spokesperson for West Mercia Police added: "Officers responded to a collision this morning around 7.40am on the A44 at Chadbury in Worcestershire.

"Sadly, a pedestrian - a woman in her 70s - was struck by a vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. "A 54-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. "Enquiries are now on-going into the collision.

"Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the woman who passed away."

Following the crash the A44 Worcester Road, through Chadbury, was temporarily closed from the Chadbury roundabout.
