M6 passenger suffers life-threatening injuries after crash

Cumbria Police officers are investigating the two-vehicle crash, which happened near junction 41 and involved a HGV and a Seat Tarraco at about 1.12pm today (Tuesday, April 7). The rear seat occupant of the Seat was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries, police have confirmed. The driver of the Seat was uninjured, while two other occupants sustained minor injuries.

An image from the M6 closure (Image: Brian Carr) The HGV driver was also uninjured in the collision. A closure remains in place on the southbound carriageway between junctions 41 and 40 while collision investigation work is carried out.
