M66 closure LIVE as motorway shut to traffic after ‘serious’ crash

Greater Manchester Police have issued a statement following a serious collision on the M66.

Officers said a man has been injured after a van hit the central reservation.

GMP said: "Officers have been called to a collision whereby a van has crashed in to the central reservation.

"A man is injured and is receiving medical attention, the extent of his injuries are unknown at this time.

"The carriages have been closed in both direction to enable emergency serviced to arrive.

"The North West Ambulance Service and the Greater Manchester Fire and Resue Service are at the scene."
