Man injured in suspected hit-and-run on A14 in Felixstowe

The pedestrian was found lying injured near the Dock Spur roundabout in Felixstowe just after 4.30am on Saturday, April 4. He was believed to have been struck by a vehicle[1] that failed to stop at the scene. Police, the East of England Ambulance Service[2], and the air ambulance all attended the incident.

The injured pedestrian, a man aged in his 60s, was taken to hospital with injuries that were initially believed to be potentially life-changing. A spokesman for the police said: "He remains in hospital receiving treatment, but his injuries are no longer considered to be as serious." At around 6.35am the same day, a man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision.

He was taken to Martlesham police station for questioning and has since been released on bail until June 11. The suspect vehicle has been located and seized by officers. The A14 was closed in both directions[3] following the incident and later reopened at around 2.20pm.

Officers are appealing for any witnesses to the collision and asking any motorists driving in the area at the time of the incident with a dashcam fitted in their vehicle to review the footage for any material that may be of assistance.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Roads and Armed Policing Team, quoting reference 37/18882/26.
