Painter and decorator dies in crash on Devon A-road

An inquest has opened into the death of a motorist on the road between Honiton and Sidmouth[1].

Grant Deacon, 53, was killed on the A375 on November 26, 2025.

The coroner in Exeter[2] said Mr Deacon lived on Cotford Road, Sidbury, and worked as a painter and decorator.

He was the driver of a vehicle involved in a single vehicle road traffic collision on the A375, said coroner Alison Longhorn.

Emergency services attended and he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Cause of death was established as multiple injuries.

The inquest was adjourned and a full hearing will take place at a later date.

It has previously been reported that police were called[3] shortly before 2.30pm on Wednesday, November 26 following a report of a collision involving a white Ford[4] Transit panel van.

The van was travelling from the direction of Honiton[5] towards Sidbury when it left the road and collided with a wall.
