Person cut from vehicle after crash on the A489 in Powys

Emergency services were called to the A489 near Kerry after reports of a two-vehicle crash between a lorry and light goods vehicle. Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue confirmed that crews form Newtown and Welshpool were called to the scene this morning (April 7). Upon arrival they found that one of the people involved was trapped in the vehicle and firefighters needed to cut them free.
Dyfed-Powys Police[1] closed the road over the course of this morning to allow teams from the Wales Ambulance Service to attend the scene. A spokesperson for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: "At 7.39am on Tuesday, April 7, the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service crews from Newtown and Welshpool Fire Stations were called to an incident along the A489 in Kerry near Newtown. "Crews responded to a road traffic collision involving one heavy goods vehicle and one light goods vehicle.
"One casualty was trapped in their vehicle. Crews were involved in extricating the casualty using e-draulic cutting equipment and making the scene safe. "The ambulance service was also in attendance to assess the casualty.

Dyfed-Powys Police confirmed that no-one has been arrested as a result of the crash. A spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Police said: "Dyfed-Powys Police were called at 7.35am today (7/4) to a two-vehicle road traffic collision between a van and a lorry, which occurred on the A489 between Newtown and Kerry. "The road was closed while emergency services attended the scene, and we reopened at approximately 11.50am following vehicle recovery.
"No arrests have been made."
