Police issue update as man arrested over ‘serious’ M6 Toll crash

A 23-year-old Belgian man has been arrested following a serious smash on the M6 Toll.

Emergency services closed off a stretch of the northbound carriageway on Good Friday (April 3).

The crash, which involved a black Peugeot Partner van, resulted in a 30-year-old man being taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The man who was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, has now been bailed while enquiries continue.

Staffordshire[2] Police has urged people not to 'speculate on social media; regarding the circumstances of the collision.

A force spokesperson said: "A man has been arrested following a serious collision on the M6 Toll on Friday, April 3.

"The collision happened at around 6am on the northbound carriageway between junctions T6 and T7, just before Norton Canes services.

"A black Peugeot Partner van was involved.

"West Midlands Ambulance Service[3] also attended the scene.

"A passenger in the van, a 30-year-old man, sustained serious injuries in the collision and was taken to hospital.

"A 23-year-old man, from Belgium, has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

He has been released on bail while our enquiries continue.

"We are asking that people do not speculate on social media as to the circumstances of the collision.

"Anyone with information or relevant dashcam footage, or anyone who saw the Belgian-registered van during the time leading up to the collision, is asked to contact us."
