School coach, car and tipper truck M27 crash

Here is what we know so far. Police were called to the three-vehicle crash on the M27 westbound at 9.35am to reports of a crash involving a car, coach and tipper truck near junction four.

Coach carried a group of children

The coach was carrying around 30 children, who were disembarked from the bus and were seen huddled by the roadside before an Xelabus came to pick them up. None of the children were hurt, police say, though an adult on the coach did suffer a minor leg injury.

Eyewitness says driver was "pinned"

One motorway user saw the aftermath of the crash. He said he saw a "school coach into the back of a lorry - three other vehicles on the side of the road and another one further up that looked like something had gone up the back of it". They added that the driver of the left-hand drive coach was "pinned" in when he passed the incident.

Police, ambulance and recovery vehicles could be seen stopped in the outside lane at the scene of the crash.

MP "concerned" to hear of crash

Eastleigh[1] MP Liz Jarvis said: "I am concerned to hear about the crash on the M27 near Southampton Airport and am monitoring the situation closely. "I would like to thank the emergency services for their swift response, and my thoughts are with everyone impacted by this incident." (Image: Highways England)
