Two men arrested after serious crash on A420 in Wiltshire

Emergency services rushed to the A420 near Ford at around 3:35pm on Wednesday, April 8 after receiving reports of a collision between a Ford Transit van and a Mercedes A class. Police closed the road in both directions and advised motorists to seek alternative routes while emergency services, including an air ambulance, were at the scene. Wiltshire Police has since confirmed that a 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving and a 41-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of being unfit through drink/drugs - both of which were travelling in the van.
While no serious injuries have been reported, two casualties were taken by land ambulance to Royal United Hospital in Bath. Police say they are continuing their enquiries into this incident. A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: "At around 3.35pm yesterday we responded to a collision between a Ford Transit van and a Mercedes A class on the A420 near Ford.
"There were fortunately no serious injuries. "We have arrested two men who were in the van, a 30-year-old on suspicion of drink driving and a 41-year-old man on suspicion of being unfit through drink/drugs. "Our enquiries are continuing."
A Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were called to the A420 at Yatton Keynell at 3.35pm today (8 April) following a road traffic collision. "Two crews from Chippenham attended and worked with paramedic colleagues to support two casualties from two vehicles. Our stop was at 5.01pm."
A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) added: "We were called at 15:34hrs on Wednesday 08 April to a road traffic collision in Ford.
"We sent two double-crewed land ambulances, an air ambulance, a rapid response vehicle, and a first responder to the scene.
We conveyed two patients by land ambulance to Royal United Hospital Bath."
