Casualty airlifted to hospital after M56 crash at Stretton

The collision occurred on the eastbound section of the motorway close to Stretton shortly after 5pm yesterday, Monday, May 18. On arrival police officers found there had been a collision between a HGV and two cars. One person had sustained serious injuries and they have been airlifted to hospital.
As a result of the collision the M56 was closed eastbound between junction 10, Stretton, and junction 9, M6 Interchange, while investigation work took place at the scene.
Anyone who witnessed the collision, or anyone with any information which may aid the investigation, is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting IML-2331295.
A spokesperson for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "After making all vehicles safe, crews extricated one casualty from their vehicle by carrying out a full roof removal before handing them into the care of paramedics."
