Driver injured after lorry overturned on M20 near Swanley and more M20 delays between Ashford and Hythe turnings due to another accident

A person has been injured and motorists faced long delays after a lorry overturned on the M20. Police were called just after 10.40am following a single vehicle collision on Junction 1 of the M20 near Swanley.

A spokesperson said: "Officers attended the scene alongside other emergency services where minor injuries were reported." Kent Fire and Rescue Service confirmed two fire engines attended, and crews worked to make the scene safe.

The driver was passed into the care of SECAmb paramedics. Monotoring reports say that all traffic was temporarily held back to Junction 2 for Wrotham. Another part of the M20 was also closed due to a separate incident.

National Highways confirmed that the M20 was shut eastbound between J10A (Sevington) and J11 (Hythe) due to a collision.

A police spokesperson said: "Officers were called at 11.23am on Saturday, May 9, following a single vehicle collision on Junction 11 of the A20.

"Officers attended the scene alongside other emergency services where minor injuries are reported."

The emergency services were still at the scene whilst recovery is arranged for the vehicle.

There are no longer delays in the area.
