Grandmother dies and child hurt in Cleator Moor crash

The incident happened at around 4.25 pm on Ennerdale Road, where the woman was crossing the road with her grandchild when they were struck by the motorbike. Emergency services attended the scene, but the woman was pronounced dead. The child suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Cumbria Police have launched an investigation and are appealing for witnesses. Police arrested three men - all from west Cumbria and in their 20s - on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. They remain in police custody this morning.

Cumbria Police is encouraging anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward. They are particularly keen to hear from anyone who saw the motorbike - believed to be in convoy with two quad bikes - leading up to the collision. Officers would also request that people in the area with dashcam, CCTV, or doorbell footage review it and contact police if it captures anything that would aid the investigation.
