Investigation underway after pedestrian injured in crash on A1 near Tranent

An investigation is underway after a 46-year-old man was struck by a car being driven on the A1 near Tranent last night.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital for treatment. The road was closed from 11.10pm to 2.30am to facilitate the investigation. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 11.10pm on Friday, 1 May, 2026, we were made aware of a crash involving a pedestrian and a car on the A1 near Tranent.

"Emergency services attended, and the pedestrian, a 46-year-old man, was taken to hospital for treatment. No other injuries were reported."The road was closed and re-opened around 2.30am on Saturday, 2 May. "Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances."
