Josh Bruton named as man who died in M5 crash in tribute

Josh Bruton died after the Luton van he was driving was involved in a crash with a Volkswagen Transport on the motorway near junction 9 (Tewkesbury) on Wednesday (May 6). Now, a GoFundMe has been launched[1] to support his partner, Chloe, and 2-year-old son, Caden. Tilly Steer, who started the GoFundMe, said: "Our family lost Josh in a tragic fatal collision on the M5, which left the motorway closed for many hours.

"While many people were understandably inconvenienced by the closure, our family's lives changed forever. The traffic eventually moved on, journeys continued and people got home, but Josh never did, and never will. Ms Steer described Mr Bruton as a kind-hearted and selfless man with the biggest heart, and someone who touched the lives of everyone he met.

She said: "He brought so much warmth love and to the people around him." The GoFundMe was set up to support Mr Bruton's partner with funeral costs, easing financial pressures, and to provide some stability. Ms Steer said: "Any donation, no matter how small, would mean the world to our family.

"In honour of Josh, hold your loved ones a little tighter, say the things you mean, and live life to the fullest. "On Wednesday, Josh woke up not knowing it would be the last time he kissed his partner and son goodbye, a moment no one ever imagines will be their last." The crash closed the M5 northbound between junction 11 and junction 9 from around Midday on Wednesday until the early hours of Thursday morning as a crash investigation was carried out on the carriageway.

Gloucestershire Police has asked anyone who witnessed the crash, saw either of the vehicles in the moments beforehand, or who has dashcam footage to come forward.

Information can be supplied via the force's website, quoting incident number 227 of May 6.
