M56 crash horror as man airlifted to hospital and woman seriously hurt
Witnesses are being urged to come forward after the crash on the M56 motorway

Two people have been rushed to hospital after being seriously injured in a crash on the M56[1]. Emergency services were called out to a collision on the M56[2] between junctions 10 at Stretton, near Warrington[3], and nine for the M6 at Lymm at around 5pm yesterday (May 18).
Cheshire Police says the crash involved a lorry and four cars - a blue blue BMW 325I, a grey Toyota Yaris, a dark blue Ford Focus and a black Tesla. The front seat passenger in the BMW, a 52-year-old Cheshire man, was airlifted to Salford[4] Royal Hospital with serious injuries.
The BMW driver, a 43-year-old Cheshire woman, was also taken to Salford Royal with serious injuries.
Cheshire Police says their injuries are not believed to be life threatening, and they are both currently in a stable condition.

Officers closed off the M56 eastbound between junctions nine and 10 while investigation work took place at the scene.
The motorway reopened at around 12.30am this morning (Tuesday), more than seven hours after the crash.
