M56 Warrington closed westbound following collision

The incident took place on the M56 eastbound in Warrington at around 5pm today, Monday, involving a HGV and two cars near junction 10 at Stretton. One person was airlifted to hospital according to Cheshire Police. A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "After making all vehicles safe, crews extricated one casualty from their vehicle by carrying out a full roof removal before handing them into the care of paramedics."
The service said five people in total were treated by paramedics. Cheshire Police are urging anyone with information or footage to come forward. A spokesman said: "Anyone who witnessed the collision, or anyone with any information which may aid the investigation, is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting IML-2331295."
The westbound carriageway remains closed between junction 10, Stretton, and junction 9, the M6 interchange.
Drivers are advised to avoid the area as delays are expected.
NB The police have now corrected information to say the road is closed EASTBOUND and not west.
