M6 driver in hospital after lorry crash on Cheshire motorway

The driver of a car involved in an M6 smash with a truck has been taken to hospital. Emergency services had been called to the northbound carriageway earlier this morning to reports of a collision.

Traffic was temporarily held for a brief time before one lane was closed. The crash, which occurred just after 4.20am between junctions 18 and 19, resulted in huge queues.

A spokeswoman for Cheshire Police said: "Officers attended and found that there had been a collision between a silver Renault Clio and a HGV.

There were no reports of any serious injuries, but the driver of the Clio has been taken to hospital as a precautionary measure."
