Leicestershire Police[1] are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened near the Rutland village of Tickencote, just east of Rutland Water[2], at about 11.15am on Friday (May 1).

The force believes no other vehicles were involved in the crash[3], in which a lorry swerved off the road and into a ditch.

Emergency services attended and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

In an appeal for information, a spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: "A driver has died after a road traffic collision on the A1 near to Great Casterton.

"No other vehicles are reported to be involved.
