Man injured after lorry overturns on A31 in Corfe Mullen

The A31 near Candys Lane at Corfe Mullen was blocked from around 5.10pm yesterday (Tuesday, May 19) due to an overturned lorry. It was affecting traffic heading eastbound, but delays were reported in both direction, with the road reopened around an hour and 30 minutes later, with traffic management in place. A man was taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

One motorist, who was stuck in traffic said: "I was stuck along the A31 between Sturminster Marshall and Wimborne and there were long delays. "Eventually after about 10 minutes I got closer to the crash and saw blue flashing lights. The lorry was fully embedded in the bush.

I couldn't quite believe how it ended up in there. The fire service and police had closed one side of the road. "There was no ambulance on the scene but I hope the driver is okay - it looked really bad."

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "We received a report at 5.10pm on Tuesday, May 19 of a lorry which had come off the carriageway on the A31 near Corfe Mullen. "Officers attended alongside the ambulance and fire services. A road closure was put in place while the incident was dealt with.

A man was taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be life-changing or life-threatening." A spokesperson for Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said at the time: "The A31 near Candys Lane at Corfe Mullen in Dorset is currently blocked due to an overturned lorry. Please avoid the area and find alternative routes.

"The road has been partially opened and traffic management is in place but there are delays."
